Reading Homework - Track My Read

Welcome to Our Reading Page

We’re excited to partner with you in helping your child develop a lifelong love of reading. This page is designed to provide you with resources and guidance to support your child’s reading journey at home. One of the tools we’re proud to use is Track My Read, which makes it easy for children to log their reading and celebrate their progress.

As part of their weekly homework, pupils are expected to read for 75 minutes per week (5 sessions of 15 minutes)

How Track My Read Works

Track My Read is a simple online tool that helps children keep track of the books they read. Each time your child spends time reading, they can log the book title and how long they read for. Over time, this creates a personal record of their reading journey that’s motivating and fun to look back on.

Why It’s Helpful

  • Builds routine: Encourages children to make reading a regular habit.

  • Keeps them motivated: Progress is visible, which inspires them to keep going.

  • Celebrates growth: Parents and teachers can see how much reading is happening and cheer on achievements.

  • Encourages responsibility: Children take pride in logging their own reading.

Getting Started with Track My Read

  1. Log in – Use the login details provided by school to access Track My Read on any device.

  2. Start reading – Encourage your child to read daily, whether it’s a school book, a library book, or an e-book.

  3. Record it – After reading, your child enters the book title and time spent reading. They can also add notes if they’d like.

  4. Check progress – Look back together at their reading log to celebrate achievements.

  5. Keep going – The more consistently they log, the more rewarding it is to see their growth.

Tips for Supporting Your Child

  • Make logging part of the routine (for example, right after bedtime reading).

  • Celebrate milestones like finishing a book or reading for a full week in a row.

  • Read together—all shared reading counts and can be logged.

  • Show interest by asking questions about the stories they’re reading.

  • Model good habits by letting your child see you enjoy reading too.
