We express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. • World Book Day 3rd March 2022

    Thu 03 Mar 2022 S.Bourne

We have had a great day here at Witton, with lots of World Book Day activities.  Children and staff enjoyed dressing up as inspirational people or fictional characters. The day got off to a dramatic start, when an area of school was shaken by a meteorite hit!

The children were tasked with piecing together clues and information in order to form an opinion about what had actually happened.

Combining World Book Day with Science week, the children explored biographical books and dressed as inspiring people to celebrate whilst investigating moon rocks and gathering evidence to support their theories. Well done to everyone involved!

  • Remembrance Sunday 2021

    Mon 15 Nov 2021 S.Bourne

It was an honour to lay a wreath at the memorial in Droitwich on Remembrance Sunday. Amelie Odell and Noah Klos (both year 5) were invited to participate with Mrs Bourne, due to being the top Epraise earners in the school. It was a very moving occasion and lovely to join with the community to reflect and remember.

  • Brand New Bike Shed Opening Ceremony!

    Wed 22 Sep 2021 S.Bourne

Pupils at Witton Middle School were thrilled to meet the British number 1 4X pro rider Scott Beaumont when he cut the ribbon on their brand new bike shed.

Headteacher,  Suzie Bourne said "when the student council approached the Governing Body with the proposal for a new bike shed with larger capacity and better weather protection, they agreed immediately. Many of our children take part in Bikeability lessons and learn how to ride to and from school safely alongside other road users. It is a great way to exercise and it was important that children could store their bikes securely at school. "

Scott, whose hometown is Kidderminster, and who has been racing BMX and 4X bikes from a very young age,  shared his career highlights with pupils and inspired them with his passion for the sport.

  • Anti-Bullying Ambassadors complete accredited training.

    Wed 22 Sep 2021 S.Bourne

Pupil leaders from Witton Middle School have successfully achieved their Anti-Bullying Ambassador awards.

Twenty children received specialist training from The Diana Award and are now qualified to lead in promoting awareness of bullying behaviours and encouraging kindness across the school.  The children learned all about what different types of bullying behaviours there can be,  and how to be an 'upstander' against bullying behaviours.  They are now poised to lead campaigns, assemblies and initiatives.  Iaean, aged 10, said "I chose to be an ambassador because I want an active role in the school community. I feel passionate about helping others."

Headteacher, Suzie Bourne said "We have worked hard to raise awareness of bullying behaviours and by training such a great team of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors we can send a very clear message throughout our whole school community that bullying behaviour or unkindness towards others with not be tolerated.  I am extremely proud that our pupils make sure that everyone feels safe and speak out to stop bullying quickly."

The Diana Award, an organisation set up in memory of Princess Diana, honours young people who work to improve the lives of others and is the most prestigious accolade a young person can receive for their social action or humanitarian work.  The new anti-Bullying team will now work toward earning Diana Award badges for their work in the school and the community.

  • Children in Need 2020

    Fri 13 Nov 2020 S.Bourne

Witton got into the community spirit today as part of our Children in Need day. Many pupils and staff wore something spotty to show support for Pudsey. Children also donated non-perishable foods for the Droitwich Foodbank. These donations are a great way for us to support the children within in our own community who will need food and supplies over the winter.
