Press release from Mrs Crossley and the Chair of Governors.

You may have seen several reports regarding a pupil of Witton Middle School having been bullied.  The welfare of our pupils is our primary concern.  Our job involves teaching children how to be kind, understanding and caring toward others.  In this respect we live by these values every day.  Safeguarding children from harm is one of the key roles of a school, in co-operation with Worcestershire Children’s Services and all other agencies.

We have a very clear set of policies. These are always followed.  They have been followed in this case and will continue to be followed. We always willingly spend many hours in talking to both parents/carers, and their children, in order to meet their needs. There has been no exception to this here. All actions have been taken in full communication with the family concerned. We have supported the family for a significant period of time prior to these allegations. We have allocated a support worker, and he has already begun work with the family.

As a school, we are unable to respond to each individual point in the newspaper articles, and we do not feel that to do so would be of help to the children concerned.  However, we can tell you that no official complaint has been made against the school.

Our thoughts go out to Lilly-Jo and her family at this difficult time.
