PSHE (Current Affairs)

Task 1: Let’s begin to look by looking todays current affairs. 

 

Watch todays bulletin by using the link below;

Task 2: 

Discuss with your pod, or family at home what you have seen. 

You might discuss: 

Which one was the most interesting? 

Do you agree/disagree with any of the reports? 

Do you think the content of the bulletin was relevant to you – why/why not? 

What further questions do you have? 

 

Task 3: 

What is the difference between a quality and a skill? 

What is a skill? 

What is a quality? 

Discuss with you pod or family at home and create a definition for each. 

 

Task 4: 

Qualities and Skills. 

Ask your pod, family, or self - What are the best things about me? 

Fold a piece of A4 paper in half. One the left-hand side, create a list or mind map putting yourself in the middle.  

Sometimes people find it hard to be positive about themselves – here is a few ideas to get you started: cheerful; determined; honest; resilient; kind. 

 

Once you have your list, think about how you show them in everyday life. Annotate your list/mind map. 

 

What qualities would you like to develop and how might you do this? 

 

Task 5: 

Ask your pod, family, or self - What are my skills? 

One the right-hand side of your piece of paper, create a list or mind map putting yourself in the middle of your skills. 

Sometimes people find it hard to be positive about themselves – here is a few ideas to get you started: solving problems; working in a team; drawing; using computers to find and present data. 

 

Once you have your list/mind map, think about how you show them in everyday life. Annotate your list/mind map. 

 

Which skills would you like to develop and how might you do this? 

 

Extension: 

Write a paragraph about yourself, describing the skills and qualities that you have identified, explaining how you use these. 

How do you feel discussing your skills and qualities? 

Would you feel happy sharing your thoughts in a group – why/why not?
