PSHE (Current Affairs)
Task 1: Let’s begin by looking today’s current affairs.
Watch todays bulletin by using the link below;
Discuss with your pod, or family at home what you have seen.
You might discuss:
Which one was the most interesting?
Do you agree/disagree with any of the reports?
Do you think the content of the bulletin was relevant to you – why/why not?
What further questions do you have?
The last few weeks have been somewhat different to what we are used to. You may have found yourself feeling a variety of emotions.
What do you do to relax? Unwind? De-stress? Relieve anxiety?
Discuss in you Pod or with your family and friends at home.
Does everyone do the same?
Do all the things on your list work for everyone?
Look at the scenarios on the PowerPoint. You may be having the same feelings about the next chapter in your education.
Discuss in your Pod or with your family and friends at home, how you might help.
What are the negatives in this situation?
What are the positives in this situation?
What could this person do to reduce their worries?
What help/support might they need or who could they reach out to?
Then, summarise your advice in a few sentences.
You may wish to share your own thoughts and feelings – someone can help you.
If you’re feeling anxious about your own transition to High School there are things you can do;
- Write it down – perhaps in a journal
- Talk to someone – a friend, family member, teacher
- Do something you enjoy to take your mind off it – running, yoga, read a book
- Look for the positives
- Practice mindfulness – colouring, breathing, drawing
*You will find possible answers/discussions at the end of PowerPoint.
