Mrs Watson
This week, we are revising ratio and proportion. These words can be confusing. On a bottle of orange squash it might say "dilute one part concentrate to four parts water".

Ratio compares the two quantities. Here, that is squash (1 part) and water (4 parts)
squash : water
1 : 4
Proportion tells us how much one part is of the whole. Here, one fifth of the drink is squash. This is often written as a fraction.
You can summarise this as ratio is part to part and proportion is part to whole.
