Welcome to 7KW’s class page

We have got another busy week. On Monday 23rd May, you will be doing a litter pick on the school field as part of your geography fieldwork. It would be a good idea to bring some gloves and you may want a sun hat or a rain coat (depending on the weather). On Tuesday 24th May, the author Philip Hartley will be speaking to us about his series of books: The Adventures of Arthur Pennington.

This week, we are finishing our topics on mystery and crime fiction in English and on acids and bases in science.

We will be doing assessments in maths and English the week after half term and then on Friday 10th June, we will be celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. Come to school in 1950s inspired clothes (e.g. a floral dress or jeans and a white t-shirt).

  1. Phones - as part of our school policy, you must keep your mobile phones in the classroom safe throughout the school day. This is for the safety of all adults and pupils. Consider carefully whether you actually need to bring a phone into school.
  2. Water bottles - please ensure you have a water bottle that you can refill throughout the day in order to stay hydrated.
  3. Uniform - in order maintain high standards, we expect you to come to school in full uniform or PE kit on PE days. Please ask parents to contact your teacher if there is a reason for missing or alternative uniform.

  4. Equipment - you are required to provide your own equipment (black biro, pencil, red pen, ruler, eraser, sharpener and glue stick). It is essential that you come to school prepared for lessons.

Target for end of summer 1 (27th May 2022) = 7640

Current total (23/5) = 6692

  • Please continue to read for pleasure. I will check your reading diary during TTT on Fridays; make sure you have recorded 5 reads to get your epraise point.
  • You will visit the library during English lessons. Alternatively, you can borrow a book from our class shelf.
  • Droitwich Library is open again and you can also download free e-books and audiobooks from Worcestershire Libraries using BorrowBox. If you are not a library member, you can join instantly with a Digital Library Membership.
  • I am reading a non-fiction book that my brother bought me for my birthday called, "The Future of Dinosaurs" by David Hone.
  • Having finished “The boy in the striped pyjamas” by John Boyne, you voted to read "Room 13" by Robert Swindells. Gothic fiction is a very different genre from historical fiction. I hope you enjoy it!

Citizenship Award

You will all receive a ‘Citizenship Award’ booklet in the Autumn term. This is an award, just for year 7, that aims to help with character development and independence. Inside the booklet is a list of tasks we would like you to engage with and provide evidence that you have done so. After you have gathered evidence for at least 7/8 of the tasks, show your teacher and they will decide whether you have done enough to have your award signed off. There are three levels (bronze, silver and gold), which you can earn badges and merits for - these will be announced in assembly. Once achieved, you will see you name appear under the headings is time to start gathering evidence! Good Luck!

  • Your PE lessons are on Monday and Friday. Remember to come to school wearing your PE kit on those days. You can wear your school jumper over the top if it is chilly!
